About This Bear
Name:  John Buckner, CLA Class of 2009 (Political Science)
Hometown Junction City, GA
I came to Mercer because... In the fourth grade a close family friend mentioned Mercer, his alma mater, in passing and I decided on the spot I would one day be a Mercerian--I didn't apply or even look anywhere else.
My favorite thing about Mercer is... the personal relationships fostered with professors and the amazingly talented student body, and not-to-mention those "BA" Bears.
After graduation, I plan to.... Teach English in Vitoria, Brazil. I will return to Mercer Law in the Fall of 2010.
My favorite member of the Mercer Faculty is: Professor Randy Harshbarger.
Favorite memories:  I am in debt to Mercer for an amazing four years. I will never forget traveling by bus to see the Bears beat Auburn the same week we beat Alabama and played Georgia Tech. I will never forget scaling the many buildings on campus attempting to relive the stories of Porter Osborne. Traveling abroad with faculty and friends to destinations all over the world will never be forgotten either. Seeing students plan and implement a pub crawl that led Macon to seem like miniature Athens will likely remain a night I will remember forever. Seeing students embrace Macon and the appearance of Mercer Village, home to Ingleside Village Pizza, Jittery Joes, and Francar's fills me with excitement beyond belief. To be honest, the last four years have been a blur of fun, growth, and the best friends anyone could ask for.
